OCTY - The Giant Squid
OCTY, the latest addition to MORADAVAGA's giant squid family, lands in Bolzano - coming from the depths of the sea, it travels up the Adige River to the NOI Techpark. Here it becomes part of a unique interactive performance by the Viennese art collective MAKEMAKE and a source of inspiration for the KIDS CULTURE CLUB workshops. It also invites visitors of all ages to playfully interact with its eight tentacles connected to the squid's two eyes, creating a playful sound experience. The interactive art installation functions as a communication tool based on an acoustic principle similar to the corded telephones our grandparents used to play with. MORADAVAGA sees his series of giant squids as peaceful marine ambassadors around the world, able to connect passers-by in an interactive and playful way, creating moments of joy. At the same time, the giant squid, in its mythological essence, becomes a symbol of the deep significance of the oceans and underlines the urgency of their protection.
