L'ADDITION
A table, a chair, a white tablecloth, a bottle: these few elements form the spare set, animated by just two performers - a waiter and a customer ordering wine. This simple scenario, replayed multiple times, soon spirals out of control, blurring the lines between the protagonists' roles.
Who is serving whom, and who is being served? British author and director Tim Etchells' play, created with the brilliant performance duo Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas, is a hilarious and explosive experience. Yet, the show's complexity stands in inverse proportion to the essentiality of its elements.
Beyond its entertainment value, L'Addition offers a sharp reflection on power dynamics, explored here with both bitter insight and sharp humor.
