Flamenco sin Género(s). An Introduction

Rocío Márquez & Javi Mora, Los Voluble

A preview featuring talks and performances introduces Flamenco sin Género(s), a project curated by Esther Regueira Mauriz, which interprets flamenco as a living and constantly evolving practice. Emerging from the margins, in the darkness of night and at the intersection of Romani, Muslim, Jewish, and Christian cultures, flamenco asserts its plural, radical and layered nature within this framework. Through close dialogue between tradition and the avant-garde, the project highlights some of the most daring explorations in contemporary flamenco: practices that defy labels and gender categories and that engage with the tensions of the present in critical and experimental terms. Featuring Rocío Márquez – accompanied for the occasion by Javi Mora – and Los Voluble, the evening offers a first glimpse into the project’s artistic development.

The event serves as a preview of the performances to be held on September 17 at NOI Techpark Bolzano and on September 18 at the Stadttheater Bruneck.
