STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT
Jos Baker, Linus Jansner, Carlo Massari
Strangers in the Night is a cross-disciplinary project that explores with irony and depth the thin line between reality and fiction, between honesty of being and role, between concrete action and pantomime. How does one survive loneliness, emptiness, confrontation with oneself? With a subtly political and dreamy tone, it combines social realism and comic comedy, avoiding pietism by inviting us to reflect on our present with black and biting humour. A meta-theatrical quest, it pierces the fourth wall and engages the audience in an escalation of madness, violence and irony. ‘Seriously ironic’, the poetics uses the language of defeat to speak of hope, of decadence awaiting rebirth, of falling and (perhaps) rising again. Co-created by Jos Baker, Linus Jansner and Carlo Massari, it marks a step towards the stylistic identity of the C&C Company.
