Since its world premiere by Klangforum Wien at the Donaueschinger Music Festival in 2005, this magnum opus by Swiss composer Beat Furrer is undoubtedly one of the most performed works of the twenty-first century. Since its first appearance, the public and press have welcomed this composition about the silent goddess of rumor and hearsay, FAMA, as an “event” – yea, even a “miracle” (Die Zeit, 20 October 2005).
