An adaptation curated by William Kentridge of the famous opera by the German author, Georg Büchner. In the present version, Woyzeck is a worker who migrated to Johannesburg in 1956, an exterminated land of sterile industrialization. Production puts on stage puppets and animation to graphically illustrate Woyzeck’s mental tortures who is trying to give some meaning to his existence..

Within Transart festival, the composer, performer, and turntablist Ignaz Schick holds a workshop dedicated to the practice of turntablism in music research. A historical course will be illustrated starting from John Cage, Milan Knizak, and Christian Marclay, passing through Claus Van Bebber, Philip Jeck, Martin Tetreault, eRikm and Otomo Yoshhide, among others. Various approaches and manipulation techniques of the vinyl will be shown, different mixing methods, scratch, and an exploration of the turntable – seen not just as an audio reproducer.
“The idea is not to turn those who are interested into turntablists, but to give to each the possibility of exploring and of sharing the infinite facets of this simple, but at the same time, complex practice” (I Schick).

Voicity, by the Russian composer Boris Filanovsky, is set between a musical opera and a theater performance. A set designing that at times takes back to a building yard in the midst of a war, at other times to an assembly shop that hosts a mass revolt. The opera lasts about one hour and a half in which voice to groups of different interpreters will be given (drivers, snipers, yard workers) who under the supervision of professional musicians will follow the written score of the composer. An orchestra in action with fixed and moving positions, at different rhythms and speeds will host in its nucleus, the audience. The very particular staff of Voicity, will involve military trucks, building machines, sirens, soldier troops and a group of winds of the Silandro band: the only human voice is Natalia Pschenitschnikowa’s, the soprano. The entire musical work implies an important social aspect: only thanks to the common work of everybody, sound will be made possible. The opera is inspired by a composition titled SYMPHONY OF THE HOOTERS, written in the early ‘20s by the futurist composer Arseny Avraamov.

An evening with a double reading: two South Tyrolean artists, Sonja Steger and Manuel Maini, will give voice to two Austrian authors Tex Rubinowitz and Klaus Nüchtern… the starts of the evening. Rubinowitz and Nüchtern will keep fundamentally different styles of life and of writing: one, on the wave of humor, flies to the far corners of the world, while the other rather cultivates the art of staying at home. The relationship that is born from the meeting of the two, introduced as a part-time and alternating reading, is unexpected and rowdy… Rubinowitz will play a compilation of doo wop singles to the sound of which Nüchtern will happily dance in the hope of a) to please his friend, and b) to animate the ladies who are present to get to the dance floor. At times both wishes become true.

Gerd Hermann Ortler is a very young South Tyrolean talented artist, originally from Glorenz, he studied in Vienna. For a couple of years he has trounced the contemporary jazz scene. In 2010 he founded the GHO Orchestra that can rightly be called the “great orchestra” with its 23 elements. Music travels between minimalist and dodecaphonic structures with a range of fully exploited tones and a potential full of energy. For his first South Tyrolean première, the musician composed a piece especially written for the Jodel queen, Anneliese Breitenberger, special guest of the soirée.
